Pick the right people to make your wedding day special.
Unless your wedding is a completely do-it-yourself affair, odds are you'll hire out things like photography and catering. How can you make sure you choose the right people for the job?
First, shop around. Compare prices and packages offered in your area and choose at least three vendors to interview for each good or service you need. Talk with them about your vision and see how they can make it come to life. Be sure to ask them to provide references -- and call them! Once you've talked with each, weigh the pros and cons and make your choice.
Most wedding vendors require you to make a nonrefundable deposit and sign a contract to secure their services. Before you do, read the contract carefully and make sure you understand exactly what services and goods the vendor is providing, the cost and the cancellation and other policies. Make sure you both understand what is expected, and get everything in writing -- verbal promises can be easily forgotten. After you've made your decisions, it doesn't hurt to check in occasionally before your big day to make sure everything is going smoothly.
