Analytics Engineer
Summary
The Analytics Engineer is responsible for building, maintaining, and enhancing analytics-ready semantic models and datasets that support reporting, self-service analytics, and decision-making across the credit union. This role focuses on transforming curated data into trusted, well-modeled analytical assets that tell the right story and aid in decision making throughout the organization.
Essential Functions
- Maintain and enhance analytics-ready datasets by transforming curated data into business-friendly analytics semantic models.
- Deploy datasets and semantic data models that support consistent metrics, data definitions, and self-service reporting.
- Partner with Senior Analytics Architect to apply standards to reporting, dashboards, and models following documented requirements.
- Provide management and senior management with key data insights to enhance the member experience and support our strategic goals.
- Support credit union strategic initiatives such as incentive goals, corporate projects, and balanced scorecard with data reporting and analysis. This includes providing analysis for corporate incentive projects as needed.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers to ensure source data is reliable and structured appropriately for analytics consumption.
- Support and modify Power BI semantic models by delivering trusted analytics.
- Develop and maintain ad-hoc and on-demand reports with SSRS and other software tools.
- Create and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that include visualizations and slivers that can be easily understood, interpreted, and enhances the end-user experience.
- Collaborate with business units, like Marketing, to understand and properly apply data in third-party applications.
- Conduct data quality checks and validation processes.
- Query production databases as needed for reporting and dashboards, including but not limited to PCI data.
- Create and maintain documentation for analytics models and business definitions.
- Support data literacy and self-service analytics initiatives.
- On call availability required for system support as needed (including nights and weekends).

Travel
Limited travel expected.
Required Education And Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience of 8+ years.
- Minimum 1 year in Power BI, including semantic modeling, DAX, and report development.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in analyzing and interpreting data.
- Experience overseeing several initiatives at a time and adjusting for competing priorities.
Preferred Education And Experience
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Knowledge of:
- Microsoft Azure data services and integration with Power BI.
- Statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and AI/ML integration.
- Tools such as Azure Machine Learning, Python, R, or Databricks.
- Knowledge of PCI DSS requirements.
- Familiarity with data governance standards.
