Summary

The primary focus of the IT Security Analyst is to understand, support, and maintain Veridian’s security Defense-In-Depth and Defense-In-Breadth strategies; analyze security systems for quality performance, optimization, and data security; support staff training related to IT Security; perform analysis, make recommendations, and participate in ongoing improvement and deployment of systems consistent with D-I-D and D-I-B strategies.

Essential Functions

  • Create excellent service experiences that promote the Veridian brand.
  • Support the work and efforts of the IT Security Team using the D-I-D and D-I-B strategies.
  • Perform analysis of daily reports, log files, and alerts.
  • Perform daily administrative tasks, to detect, analyze, and investigate threats to the organization's brand. Work with partners to ensure technical services are operating correctly for brand protection.
  • Provide end-user support for security awareness education through administrating and engaging employees through security awareness activities. Identify and recommend security enhancement through interacting with end users and identifying security issues that can improve existing processes and procedures.
  • Maintain daily audit checklists and ensure systems are up and functioning without error.
  • Monitor and evaluate security risks and accessibility of email communications.
  • Monitor and evaluate security risks and accessibility to internet websites.
  • Monitor endpoint systems to identify threats and cyber incidents; escalate cyber incidents in accordance with escalation processes.
  • Perform gap analysis of daily operations and propose solutions to close identified gaps.
  • Provide tuning recommendations of security tools based on observed threat activity.
  • Identify malicious or anomalous activity based on aggregated data from security solutions.
  • Monitor and provide solutions to IT Security support tickets.
  • Install and maintain security software to safeguard Veridian’s critical data.
  • Perform analysis of alert information based on predefined procedures providing escalation when needed.
  • Analyze event information aggregated by the security operations center (SOC) to recognize incidents that should be investigated further.
  • Assist employees with achieving business objectives while utilizing solutions maintained by the IT Security team.
  • Stay informed of security trends by daily review of trusted sources.
  • Act as backup to IT Security Specialist as needed.
  • On call availability required for system support as needed (includes nights and weekends).

Working Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.

Travel

Limited travel expected.

Required Education And Experience

  • Associate's Degree in Computer Studies and/or Management Information Systems or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience of 4+ years.
  • 4+ years of related work experience in the IT field.

Preferred Education And Experience

  • Industry recognized security certifications such as Security+, CySec+, GSEC 
  • Experience with managing an Endpoint Detection and Response solution, Email and Web filtering, and the Knowbe4 security awareness platform.
