We’re awarding $50,000 in Giving Tuesday donations to nonprofit organizations across Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota. The donations commemorate our annual Veridian Gives Back for Giving Tuesday tradition to celebrate the global day of philanthropy.
As our President and CEO Renee Christoffer says, “Veridian was founded on the need to support our communities and the people in them. We celebrate Giving Tuesday because it’s an opportunity for us to encourage and inspire each other to strengthen the communities we share.”
How We Chose the Giving Tuesday Recipients
This year, organizations were nominated by people in our communities through our Veridian Gives Back for Giving Tuesday campaign. Each eligible nonprofit received one entry into a random drawing, giving every organization - large or small - an equal opportunity to be selected.
To qualify, nonprofits needed to support at least one of our five funding priorities, including affordable housing, basic human needs, inclusion, employment readiness or financial literacy.
Meet the Five $10,000 Giving Tuesday Recipients
We selected one organization from each of our five market areas, and each received a $10,000 donation. Here's the list of this year’s recipients:
-
Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates (iJAG) – Waterloo, Iowa
-
Mission of Hope – Cedar Rapids, Iowa
-
Dorothy’s House – Des Moines, Iowa
-
Least of My Brethren – Papillion, Nebraska
-
ICA Food Shelf – Minnetonka, Minnesota
These nonprofit organizations are making a meaningful impact in our communities every day, and we're grateful for the chance to support their work.
