Building Community Together

Veridian has announced a $300,000 multi-year commitment to Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity’s “Building Community Together” initiative — a collaborative effort to expand affordable housing and revitalize neighborhoods across Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan and Butler counties in Iowa.

 

Expanding Access to Affordable Housing

The “Building Community Together” initiative aims to create sustainable, community-driven solutions that empower families and strengthen local neighborhoods. Through this strategic partnership, Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity expects to serve 419 families within three years — that's more families that it served in its first 33 years combined.

Key focus areas include:

• Affordable new and rehab home construction
• Critical home repairs and aging-in-place modifications
• Neighborhood revitalization projects
• Financial coaching and down payment assistance
• Launch of a new Homeownership Training Center

"We're not just building homes - we're creating conditions for lasting success," said Ali Parrish, Executive Director of Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity. "Through 'Building Community Together,' we're expanding our reach and deepening our impact with forward-thinking, lasting solutions."

 

Veridian’s Commitment to Financial Empowerment

Veridian's donation will be paid over three years, with $100,000 each year from 2025-2027. Renee Christoffer, President and CEO of Veridian Credit Union, also serves on the project’s Executive Committee.

“Veridian’s mission is to partner with our members to create successful financial futures, and we know that homeownership is a foundation for achieving that,” Christoffer said. “We’re grateful for the work our Habitat for Humanity partners are doing to address affordable housing across the communities we serve, and it’s our privilege to contribute to their effort.”

Beyond this donation, Veridian supports Habitat for Humanity organizations throughout Iowa, Nebraska, and the Twin Cities metro area through monetary donations, financial literacy education and employee volunteer hours.

“Veridian has been an incredible partner over the years,” Parrish added. “Through the 'Building Community Together' initiative, they’ve increased that support with a substantial corporate partnership. It’s transformative.”

 

Building a Stronger Future Together

By the end of 2027, the "Building Community Together" initiative is projected to generate:

• 149 new homeownership opportunities
• 270 critical home repairs
• 195 property acquisitions
