Summary

The Identity Architect role is responsible for the overall identity lifecycle management across Veridian Credit Union and Credit Union Service Organizations (CUSO). The positions serves as a subject matter expert for the identity governance program, working with IT Security, IT Systems and Integration, Internal Audit, HR, and Compliance in design, implementation, and operation.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing architecture of Veridian’s Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) program, including identity lifecycle management, joiner/mover/leaver processes, access request and approval workflows, access certifications, and attestation campaigns.
  • Lead the deployment, configuration, administration, and continuous improvement of Veridian’s IGA platform, including developing workflow automation and governance processes for human and non-human identities.
  • Integrate disparate or legacy applications to identity platforms using JSON, CSV parsing, or automated UI interaction techniques.
  • Design, implement, and optimize role-based access control (RBAC), privileged access management (PAM), and segregation of duties (SoD) controls that are aligned with least-privilege and support Veridian’s Zero Trust strategy.
  • Develop and maintain identity and access management standards and procedures, including directory services, naming conventions, organizational unit structures, group hierarchies, access models, and privileged access controls.
  • Integrate IGA capabilities with HR systems, IT Service Management (ITSM), directory services, and business applications to automate provisioning, deprovisioning, access governance, and identity lifecycle processes.
  • Partner with application owners, IT Infrastructure and Support, IT Systems and Integrations, IT Security, and Web Development to embed identity governance requirements into system architecture, application onboarding, and CI/CD processes.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for identity governance and access management, providing guidance on identity architecture, standards, and best practices across projects and initiatives.

Required Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or technology related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience of 8+ years. 
  • 4+ years of experience designing, implementing, or supporting Identity and Access Management (IAM), Identity Governance and Administration (IGA), or related identity security solutions, including identity lifecycle management processes (joiner, mover, leaver), access requests, and/or access certification workflows.
  • 3+ years of experience with role-based access control (RBAC), segregation of duties (SoD), entitlement governance, or least-privilege access models.
  • 1+ years of experience with scripting or automation technologies such as PowerShell, Python, REST APIs, or workflow automation platforms.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity and regulatory frameworks such as NIST CSF, FFIEC, GLBA, or PCI DSS.

Preferred Education And Experience

  • Industry recognized security certifications such as Security+, CISSP, GIAC IAM, CIAM, or IGA vendor specific certification. 
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience working with Identity Governance solutions such as Saviynt or SailPoint. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, SSO, MFA, and identity federation technologies.
  • Experience working as an Identity Architect, IAM Architect, IAM Engineer, or Identity Governance Specialist within a regulated industry, preferably financial services.
  • Experience leading identity governance programs and access certification campaigns.
