Summary
The Systems Administrator manages, maintains, and monitors IT systems and provides tier 2 support to end users. The position’s responsibilities include administration of Windows Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, VMware, SAN/NAS, patch management, and backup software. The Systems Administrator also maintains regular helpdesk status updates for support and project cases.
Essential Functions
- Create excellent service experiences that promote the Veridian brand.
- Assist with the administration and maintenance of Windows Active Directory and related services, including user and group management, Group Policy administration, and identity-related troubleshooting.
- Assist with the administration and maintenance of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Entra ID, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint Online. Support user provisioning, licensing, permissions, and basic tenant administration.
- Assist with the administration and maintenance of server infrastructure, including Active Directory Domain Controllers, DNS, DHCP, file servers, print services, and business applications.
- Monitor backup jobs, verify successful completion, assist with restore requests, and help ensure recovery objectives are met.
- Assist with the administration and maintenance of file storage systems, including capacity monitoring and routine storage management activities.
- Assist with the administration of VMware or other virtualization platforms, including server provisioning, resource management, monitoring, and routine maintenance.
- Deploy operating system and application updates, assist with vulnerability remediation efforts, monitor compliance reporting, and work with IT Security to address identified risks.
- Provide application and infrastructure support to end users and IT staff. Troubleshoot server, workstation, and application issues, coordinate with vendors as needed, and assist with software and hardware installations and upgrades.
- Document systems, procedures, configurations, and support processes. Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation.
- Collaborate with senior IT staff on infrastructure projects, system upgrades, business continuity initiatives, and disaster recovery testing activities.
- Collaborate with the IT Security department to support security best practices and ensure adherence to PCI and other regulatory requirements.
- Monitor system health, performance, and capacity using established tools and processes, escalating issues when appropriate.
- Contribute positively to team efforts by consistently achieving established goals and expectations.
- On call availability required for system support as needed (includes nights and weekends).

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
Travel
Limited travel expected.
Required Education And Experience
- Associate's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related technical field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience of 4+ years.
- 2+ years of experience in an IT support, systems administration, or related technical role with direct experience in the following:
- Microsoft Active Directory
- DNS
- DHCP
- Group Policy
- Microsoft 365 Administration
- PowerShell or other command-line tools
- Experience troubleshooting operating systems, user access, applications, and infrastructure-related issues.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems and business productivity applications.
Preferred Education And Experience
- Experience with the following:
- Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Entra ID, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint Online
- Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate, Power Apps, and Copilot Studio
- VMware or other virtualization platforms
- Backup and recovery technologies
- Patch management and vulnerability remediation
- PowerShell scripting and automation
- Linux administration
- Microsoft Azure, AWS, or other cloud platforms
- PCI compliance requirements and cybersecurity best practices
