Waterloo, Iowa: Select Waterloo high school students shared their work with family, friends and the community at Veridian's annual ArtShare Premiere on Monday. More than 100 people attended the event, which showcased 46 original works of art created by students from Waterloo East, Waterloo West, Expo Alternative, Valley Lutheran and Columbus high schools.
Each piece is selected for the program by the high schools' art department leaders. Mediums range from digital photography and graphic design to paintings and pottery. The works will remain on display at Veridian's branch located at 1827 Ansborough Ave. in Waterloo throughout 2013 and can be viewed anytime during regular business hours.
"ArtShare gives students the chance to showcase their work in a public forum," said Deidra Noborikawa, Waterloo East High School Art Teacher. "Seeing their pieces professionally displayed and sharing them with their community is very gratifying for them. It's an important part of the artistic process."
