Cedar Rapids, Iowa: Select Marion High School art students shared their work with family, friends and the community at Veridian's annual ArtShare Premiere on Wednesday, February 6. The event showcased 33 pieces of original student art, which will remain on display for one year in Veridian's branch at 5805 Rockwell Dr. NE in Cedar Rapids.
Veridian created ArtShare to raise awareness and appreciation for young artists in the community. The credit union hosts similar premiere events in Waterloo and Ankeny. In Cedar Rapids, each piece is selected by Marion High School Art Department leaders. The mediums consist of ceramics, computer artwork designed using Adobe® Photoshop® and Illustrator®, and drawings done in graphite, oil pastel, colored pencil and marker.
"ArtShare allows our students the opportunity to have their work professionally displayed in a public forum," said Barb Shultz, Marion High School Art Teacher. "It's very meaningful for them to see others appreciate their work, and it's an important part of the artistic process."
Marion High School students featured in the 2013 premiere include:
Jordan Bliss, Adrianna Bolsinger, Paige Brandenburg, Kayla Brown, Ben Buckley, Rebecca Busch, Brenna Champlin, Courtney Cummins, Jamie Draeger, Lawryn Fraley, Brodi Garringer, Kelsey Kirk, Beth Knapp, Kacie Kohl, Morgan Kolarik, David Kuhn, Sidney Larsen, Tyler Lerch, Anna Luenig, Nate McGuire, Mariah McSweeny, Peyton Meier, Zoee Norton, Payge Phillips, Sydney Pitstick, Andie Scott, Trevor Short, Aspen Steel, Miya Swift and Jordan Wickman.
