Creston Van Wey
Creston, a Dewar resident, enjoys using his knowledge and gifts to help others. He is the Chief Financial Officer on Veridian’s board. Creston has been the Chair and a member of each of the board committees. He has been employed by John Deere in Waterloo for 38 years. Creston is currently a Welder and Robotics Technician. He has experience in real estate, in retail and as a small business owner. Creston volunteers at church and is the Poyner Township Clerk.
Lisa, a Cedar Falls resident, wants to contribute to the success of her community by strengthening its businesses. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business and a master’s degree in Business Administration. Lisa continues to learn by enrolling in various courses. She has been with Harley-Davidson and Deere & Co for 15 years. Lisa has strong relationship management and contract administration skills. She volunteers for a safety council, Habitat for Humanity, Xtreme Clean Up and Junior Achievement. For the past three years, Lisa has been on an employee steering committee at John Deere and is currently the chair.
Ginger, a Waterloo resident, is passionate about educating members and helping them financially. She believes the members and employees should be the number one priority of the board. Ginger is a graduate of East High School. She has worked for Hinson Manufacturing Company and Waterloo Industries. Presently, Ginger works at John Deere. She has volunteered on the U.A.W. Local 838 Union’s Executive Board for seven years. Ginger has been on Veridian’s board for 13 years.
Louis, an Ankeny resident, has worked in many financial-related fields. He spent time in consumer finance, savings and loan, real estate, life insurance and securities. Louis spent the most time in mortgage lending prior to his retirement in 2008. He was born and raised in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. After graduating from high school, Louis served six years in the U.S. Navy Reserve, including two years of active duty. Following his military service, he enrolled at Grandview College and studied Business Administration.
Scott, a Brandon resident, has been serving on Veridian’s board for 11 years. He is passionate about moving Veridian forward. Scott wants to help our youth become responsible consumers. He feels this can be accomplished through honest and direct policies. Scott worked for John Deere for 33 years before he retired. He enjoyed serving for the U.A.W. Local 838, and now volunteers for the Iowa Pyrotechnic Association and many town celebration events.
Logan, a Des Moines resident, seeks the opportunity to share his business knowledge and experience as a young professional. He received his bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa. Currently, Logan works as a Claims Adjuster for a Fortune 100 company. He has experience in customer service and leadership roles. Logan can offer a unique perspective for the younger generation. He supports the continual growth of Veridian and will keep members as the number one priority.
Tiffany, a Waterloo resident, believes in Veridian’s commitment to serving the underserved. She seeks the opportunity to help make decisions and contribute ideas that will make a difference in the community. Tiffany has worked at Family Management Credit Counselors for seven years. As a Certified Credit Counselor and Social Security Rep. Payee, she works with many area agencies that serve the community. She wants to continue her growth by serving on the board.
Aaron, a Clive resident, understands what it takes to attract and retain key talent in any organization. He wants to provide fresh ideas and perspectives. Aaron works for CAPTRUST Financial Advisors in Investment Management. He has a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Upper Iowa University and received his Financial Planner certification through Kaplan University. Aaron has eight years of experience in financial services. He is the Finance Co-chair for the West Des Moines Leadership Academy Board and a member of the men’s ministry leadership team at Valley Church.
David, a Winterset resident, seeks the opportunity to collaborate with others, while serving Veridian members. He has spent the last six years working at Fiserv. Currently, David is a Technology Design Architect. He previously worked at Orchard Place and the City of West Des Moines. David has a bachelor’s degree in Management and Computer Information Systems from Simpson College. He enjoys spending time with his family and working on various construction projects.
Dan, a Waverly resident, is passionate about learning new things and contributing in the communities where he lives and works. He has been working at John Deere Power Systems for two years. Dan previously worked at Oak Press Solutions Inc. and Burr Oak Tool Inc. He has a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in Manufacturing Engineering Technology and a master’s degree from Michigan State University in Manufacturing Innovation. Dan has volunteered for Boy Scouts of America, the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce, The National Exchange Club and various leadership positions at church.
Denny, an Ankeny Resident, seeks the opportunity to give back to the credit union industry. He believes in the credit union philosophy of people helping people. Denny was the President/CEO at Deere Community Credit Union and spent time at the Iowa Credit Union League and River Valley Credit Union before he became a Veridian employee. During his career, he was also the Director of Research, Development and Training and Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning. In 2011, Denny retired from Veridian after 33 years of working for credit union organizations and volunteering on various credit union and community boards. He also served four years in the U.S. Air Force, which included a tour in Vietnam.
Mark, a resident of Cedar Falls, wants to make a difference and bring his knowledge to the board. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa. Currently, Mark works as a Real Estate Agent for Prudential One Realty Centre. He has been selling real estate for the past 11 years. Mark volunteers as the Co-chair of the Planning and Zoning Commission in Cedar Falls. He believes his experience and familiarity of the Cedar Valley will enhance the board. Mark has lived in the Cedar Valley for 57 years.
John, a resident of Cedar Falls, seeks the opportunity to use his background and experiences to help one of the best credit unions. He spent time at the University of Northern Iowa. John worked as a Union Electrician for many years, mainly in the Cedar Valley. He got a broad view of many communities through his job. After high school, John completed a NECA-IBEW Electrical Apprenticeship and was named the Apprentice of the Year in 1981. He has worked in the non-profit industry for 10 years. By working at the Cedar Valley United Way, John has learned the needs in the community.
Joel, a resident of Hudson, wants to apply his business experience, education and community involvement as he serves on the board. He has a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business from Iowa State University and a master’s in Business Administration from Kaplan University. Joel worked for the seed industry, at Omega Cabinetry and has spent more than six years working at Heartland Co-op in Traer. He also operated a family farm. Joel has been a member of the Hudson Community School Board for nine years. He is a founding member of the Hudson School Foundation and was its first president.
Chad, a Shellsburg resident, excels in understanding feedback. He has a unique ability to communicate and implement feedback. Chad has worked for enlighten technologies for 14 years. As the Director of Network Services, he focuses on production systems and client security while handling operations, staff time and application development. Chad has volunteered as a firefighter for nine years and as a member of the Logistical Support Response Team in Iowa for six years.
Gaylen, a Cedar Falls Resident, has been a member of Veridian’s board for over 35 years. He is currently on the audit and board governance committees. Gaylen has served as the board Chair, Chief Financial Officer and as a chair of all standing committees. He currently works part-time for an international company, Carmi Flavors, doing trade shows. Gaylen worked for Deere & Co. as the supervisor of skilled trade personnel prior to his retirement. He is an active member and volunteer in his church. Gaylen is member-focused, an experienced leader and holds himself accountable to each member.
