- - - Veridian Credit Union held a Community Shred Day in conjunction with its 75th Anniversary on Saturday, September 19, at eight branch locations throughout Iowa.
The event drew 288 people, who protected their identities in an environmentally friendly way by bringing 11,589 pounds of documents to be shredded. The participating Veridian branches were located in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Ankeny, Waverly, Independence, Oelwein and Johnston.
The shredded material will be recycled into commercial grade paper towels, toilet paper and other paper products. Veridian estimates that the Community Shred Day saved 139 trees.
