Veridian Credit Union breaks ground in Coralville

Coralville, IA - - - Veridian Credit Union will open a branch in Coralville this fall, its seventh location in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Corridor. Veridian staff, Coralville city officials and Chamber of Commerce members broke ground on May 5 for the facility, which will be located at 704 2nd St. in Coralville.

The Coralville location will be a full-service branch. The 4,000-square-foot facility will consist of three drive-up lanes, a drive-up ATM, six teller stations, a self-serve coin machine, safe-deposit boxes and office space dedicated to mortgage and consumer lending.

"We're thrilled to continue our expansion with a new location in the Corridor," said Justin Mager, a regional manager at Veridian. "The new branch will provide more convenient services to our existing members in the Corridor and bring the opportunity to develop new relationships in a vibrant community like Coralville."

The new branch is expected to be a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified building, meaning it will consist of high-efficiency mechanical, electrical and irrigation equipment, as well as energy-efficient windows and more. The goal is to divert a minimum of 75% of the construction waste from being landfilled and use building products with high recycled content. Primus Construction Inc., headquartered in Cedar Rapids, is the designer and general contractor.

"Our design team has five years of experience with LEED certification for a number of commercial projects, and we're currently working on several projects in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City Corridor," said David Selk of Primus. "Green building has a profound impact on our natural environment, economy, health and productivity."

Veridian Credit Union, founded in 1934 in Waterloo, Iowa, is a not-for-profit financial cooperative owned by its members. The credit union offers a full range of consumer financial services and employs more than 500 Iowans throughout 25 branches, including five locations in the Cedar Rapids area and one in Iowa City.
