Waterloo, IA
- - - Veridian Credit Union will host the second annual ArtShare Premier on Thursday, January 25, at
5:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The exhibit will be located at Veridian main branch
at 1827 Ansborough Avenue in Waterloo.
ArtShare is the award-winning program designed by Veridian to increase the awareness of young artists
in the community. Veridian will display 50 two-dimensional and three-dimensional pieces created by Waterloo
East and West High School art students. Veridian hosts ArtShare Premier to give student artists, their
families, and the community the chance to view the new showcase.
The paintings, drawings, and photography professionally framed and matted at Heritage Art Gallery
compliments of Veridian. The framed artwork will be returned to the students after it is displayed for
one year. Jewelry, pottery and sculptures are displayed in a case in Veridian’s lobby.
As part of the ArtShare program, Veridian has established the ArtShare Scholarship. The scholarship
supports the development of outstanding high school students who excel in the arts and who plan to pursue
educational programs leading to a career in the arts. Veridian awards one $1,000 scholarship annually
for undergraduate tuition. Scholarship guidelines and applications are available at www.veridiancu.org and all branches. Applications are due by Friday, February 9, 2007.
“We are excited to recognize the student artists in our community by showcasing their talent in
our branches,” said Shawna Matz, Veridian Regional Manager. “Through the ArtShare Premier
and Scholarship, we hope to strengthen the value of art in our community.”
The ArtShare program was awarded the 2002 Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Recognition Award by
the Iowa Credit Union League. The Dora Maxwell Award Program recognizes credit unions that demonstrate
the “people-helping-people” credit union philosophy in a community.
