Job Title:   Legal Counsel
Description:   Veridian Credit Union is seeking an attorney to fill a position on its in-house legal team. This attorney will primarily serve as legal counsel on collection activities for the credit union. As requested, this attorney may also serve as counsel on a variety of other issues, including, but not limited to: real estate; bankruptcy; and other general legal issues.

Additionally, the attorney will be actively engaged in the legal collection process, including all phases of litigation and post-judgment remedies, and will be responsible for supervising the work of the support staff. They will also be expected to stay informed regarding all collection issues impacting financial institutions, including all relevant state and federal laws and regulations.

The successful candidate will be a team player with a strong sense of honesty and ethics. A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice in the State of Iowa is required. One to three years of collections and real estate experience is preferred. This position will be located in Waterloo, Iowa, with an anticipated start date of mid-January 2014. Travel will be required. Veridian has an excellent salary, benefit, and incentive package.
