Veridian Credit Union practices good community citizenship in each of the communities
we serve. Our philosophy of People Helping People drives each of our community-based programs.
- Thanksgiving Dinner for Those in Need -- For 25 years, Veridian has planned and been the major sponsor of the Thanksgiving Dinner for People in Need. Last year, the event served over 1,100 Waterloo-area residents.
- Community Investment -- One way Veridian enriches the community is by investing personnel time and funds in valuable community organizations. In 2007 Veridian donated over $175,000 to over 100 Iowa non-profits
- Veridian Scholarships -- Each year, Veridian provides over $11,000 in tuition scholarships for Iowa high school students and non-traditional college students.
- Gift Match Program -- Veridian matched over $6000 in employee contributions to local non-profit organizations in 2007.
- Employee Involvement -- Veridian staff raised over $29,000 in 2007 for local organizations, and invested over 18,000 hours of volunteer time.
- UNI Community Engagement Awards -- Veridian funds five $1,000 awards recognizing one faculty person from each of UNI's five colleges. The $1,000 award is presented to the non-profit organization of the winning faculty person's choice.
- Wrapping for a Cause -- Veridian has teamed up with the Arc of East Central Iowa in Cedar Rapids to make their major holiday fundraiser a success year after year.
