Veridian understands that financial education is key to an individual'[s and a family's promising future. Here are a few examples of our financial education commitments:
- Saving with Mandy & Randy -- Veridian sponsors a financial education program designed for second grade students. Veridian staff also join students for in-class activities.
- Making the Right Money Moves -- Veridian sponsors a financial education program designed for high school students. Veridian staff also join students for in-class activities.
- Member Newsletter, Youth Newsletters & Web site -- Our member communication tools provide financial information for such topics as how to protect from fraud, identity theft, security information, technology, etc.
- Student Credit Union -- Veridian's unique partnership with Kittrell Elementary in Waterloo teaches young children the importance of saving money. Students make small weekly deposits to their own credit union, which they've named the Six Pillars Credit Union.
- Partners in Education -- Veridian is the official Partner in Education with two Iowa elementary schools, Kittrell in Waterloo and Wallace in Des Moines. Veridian provides human and financial resources through supplemental learning and social activities.
- Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) -- IDAs are special matched savings programs for persons with limited incomes.
- Waterloo Housing Partnership -- A community partnership with the Operation Threshold program teaching low-income individuals about home ownership. Program participants can apply for a mortgage loan and be granted approval within the program criteria.
- Get Checking -- This Waterloo area program assists individuals who have never had an account or have had problems in the past. A checking account is opened at the program's completion.
