Responsibilities: As a volunteer Director, your duties will include strategic planning and setting the general policy for Veridian, which enables management to carry out day-to-day operations.

Qualifications: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and a Veridian member in good standing. Applicants should also have a knowledge or willingness to learn about credit unions and business operations, along with a strong desire to serve the credit union movement.

Time commitment: Serving as a Director requires a commitment of approximately 275 hours per year. As a Director, you are also required to attend monthly board meetings held the fourth Wednesday of every month, special board meetings held twice per year, board workshops held four times a year, annual planning sessions and monthly committee meetings. In addition, Directors are encouraged to attend conferences throughout the year and required to complete self-study courses on credit unions and business topics.

Salary: None

Positions: There are five 3-year positions and one 1-year position up for election this year.

Election day: Directors will be elected by Veridian members who are in good standing and age 16 or older. The Annual Meeting will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010. Look for more information in upcoming issues of the Community Advisor.
